Eutelsat Quantum (SSTL)

The “Eutelsat Quantum” is a geostationary craft with a design life of 15 years, payload power of up to 7 KW, and payload mass of up to 450kg.  This new spacecraft design represents a first in the commercial satellite industry, by enabling the complete electronic synthesis of “receive” and “transmit” coverages in the Ku-band. The Quantum spacecraft launch in July 2021.

On this mission Gediz was one of the engineers responsible for structural analysis of the spacecraft platform for launch vibroacoustic environment, quasi static launch loads, in orbit thermal loads and handling cases.

Gediz also designed and correlated mass dummies for various payloads and platform components against finite element models for SQM and SDM test campaigns.  Having worked on the project from concept to build of the flight model, Gediz’s work had majorly contributed to the design and development of this spacecraft and overall mission success.
